Jim Nova used his construction and mechanical background to found Nova, Inc. in 1977. The company's main function then was to provide an effective and economical alternative to the less than effective and costly processes available at that time. 

About the Founder

Jim Nova

Jim founded Nova Basement Systems in 1975. With a Masters Degree in Vocation Building Trades, Electronics and Drafting from Indiana University, he started his career as a Building Trades Educator. Through the decades, he has not only taught, but he built numerous houses through his years as a teacher and on his own.

He has 40 years experience in construction and mechanical trade, which led him to concentrate on finding economic solutions for waterproofing and stabilizing deteriorating basements. He carries a current contractors license in the states of Michigan and Indiana.

In December of 2014 Jim was able to retire and turn the company reins over to four of his long time employees. Dave Naughton, Phil Droege, Terresa Draves and Mike Flores who combined have over 60 years of experience working at Nova Basement Systems. They are very excited to carry on the name and reputation that Jim has built up over the past 38 years.

Today, Nova Basement Systems is one of the largest basement waterproofing and foundation repair contractors in northern Indiana and southern Michigan, offering common sense solutions for foundation and water problems. Specializing in the following areas:

1. Basement Waterproofing
We provide a wide variety of systems to solve any basement water problem. Our systems include WaterGuard® , DryTrak® , SuperSumps , Battery Backup UltraSump® , BrightWall® Paneling , Perma-Wall, Trench Drains and more.

2. Foundation Repair
We stabilize and straighten basement and retaining walls that have bowed and cracked due to poor grading and expansive soils utilizing the Foundation Supportworks Wall Anchor System. Many structural engineers recognize the Foundation Supportworks Wall Anchors as the state-of -the-art repair for basement and retaining walls.

3. Crawl Space Repair
We also specialize in solving crawl space moisture problems. Our CleanSpace® System is the most advanced process on the market today and carries a 25 year transferable warranty.

4. Sump Pump Installation
We offer the most reliable sump pump systems on the market today. The triple sump pump system is available with our revolutionary battery back-up systems, which can pump more than 12,000 gallons of water on a single charge.
