Sagging floors over crawl spaces are a common issue that many homeowners face. This problem not only affects the aesthetics of the home but can also lead to structural concerns if left unaddressed. In this blog post, we will delve into the causes of sagging floors over crawl spaces and discuss effective solutions to rectify this issue.

Causes of Sagging Floors: Several factors can contribute to the sagging of floors over crawl spaces:

Moisture and Humidity: Excess moisture and humidity in the crawl space can lead to wood rot and structural damage. This can weaken the support beams and floor joists, causing the floor to sag.

Inadequate Support: If the original construction did not include proper support beams or if the existing ones are deteriorating, the floors above can start to sag under their own weight and the load they bear.

Foundation Settlement: If the foundation of the house settles unevenly, it can cause the floors to become unlevel and sag over time.

Solutions: Addressing sagging floors over crawl spaces requires a systematic approach that involves identifying the root causes and implementing appropriate solutions:

Crawl Space Encapsulation: Encapsulating the crawl space involves sealing it off from the external environment, installing a vapor barrier, and ensuring proper ventilation. This prevents excess moisture from seeping into the crawl space and damaging the structural components.

Moisture Control: Installing a dehumidifier in the crawl space can help maintain optimal humidity levels, preventing the growth of mold and rot. Regularly checking for leaks and ensuring proper drainage can also mitigate moisture-related issues.

Reinforcing Structural Elements: If the support beams and floor joists are compromised, they may need to be reinforced or replaced. Adding additional support columns and sistering new joists alongside damaged ones can help distribute the load more effectively.

Leveling Techniques: Utilizing hydraulic jacks, shims, or support posts can help lift and level sagging floors. This process should be carried out by professionals to ensure safety and precision.

Professional Inspection: It's advisable to have a professional structural engineer inspect the sagging floors and crawl space. They can accurately assess the extent of the damage and recommend the most suitable solutions.

Preventive Measures: To prevent sagging floors over crawl spaces, consider the following preventive measures:

Regular Inspections: Perform routine inspections of your crawl space for signs of moisture, mold, and structural issues.

Maintain Proper Drainage: Ensure that the area around your home is properly graded to direct water away from the foundation.

Gutter Maintenance: Keep your gutters clean and well-maintained to prevent water from overflowing and pooling near the foundation.

Monitor Humidity: Use a hygrometer to monitor the humidity levels in your crawl space and take action if levels are consistently high.

Sagging floors over crawl spaces can be a worrisome issue, but with the right approach, it's a problem that can be effectively addressed. By understanding the underlying causes, implementing appropriate solutions, and taking preventive measures, homeowners can ensure the stability and longevity of their home's structural integrity. If you're facing sagging floor issues, don't hesitate to consult NOVA, who specialize in foundation and structural repairs to get your home back on solid ground.

The Unsung Heroes: Back-Up Sump Pumps
2023-10-23T00:00:00.05Z
Michael Flores
Why have a back-up pump on your primary sump pump? To help better protect your basement or crawlspace from primary pump failures or power outages.

Introduction

When it comes to home maintenance, some items are often overlooked until disaster strikes. Sump pumps are one such unassuming yet vital component of a well-prepared home, particularly if you live in an area prone to heavy rains or flooding. But what about back-up sump pumps? In this blog post, we will explore the importance of back-up sump pumps and why they deserve a place in every homeowner's disaster preparedness plan.

The Role of Sump Pumps

Before delving into the world of back-up sump pumps, let's first understand the role of their primary counterparts – sump pumps. A sump pump is a mechanical device installed in a pit (the sump) in your basement or crawl space. Its primary function is to remove excess water that accumulates due to heavy rainfall, groundwater intrusion, or melting snow. Without a functioning sump pump, your basement can quickly turn into an aquatic disaster zone, leading to costly damages and health hazards.

The Role of Back-Up Sump Pumps

A back-up sump pump is a secondary, (typically) battery powered pump that kicks into action when your primary sump pump fails or during power outages. They act as insurance against flooding and water damage when you need it most.

Benefits of Back-Up Sump Pumps

Continuous Protection: Back-up sump pumps provide continuous protection for your home. Most often, it provides protection of your home from primary pump failures. But, they can even provide protection during power outages.

Peace of Mind: Knowing that your basement will stay dry even when you're away from home or during a storm brings peace of mind to homeowners.

Prevents Costly Repairs: Water damage in your basement can lead to costly repairs and mold issues. Back-up sump pumps prevent these problems.

The Problem with Primary Pumps

Depending on the quality of your primary sump pump, sump pumps are designed to last for as long as they can. However, they can fail for multiple reasons. But like any mechanical item in your home, there is a lifespan to the sump pump. And when your primary sump pump finally fails, it is important to have a back-up pump to pick up where the primary pump left off.

The Problem with Power Outages

While sump pumps are essential for maintaining a dry and safe basement, they depend on electricity to operate. Unfortunately, severe storms and flooding are often accompanied by power outages. When the power goes out, your primary sump pump becomes useless, leaving your basement vulnerable to water damage. This is where back-up sump pumps come to the rescue.

Conclusion

In the world of home maintenance, back-up sump pumps are unsung heroes, quietly standing by until they're needed. Investing in a back-up sump pump is a wise decision for homeowners who want to safeguard their homes from potential flooding disasters. Whether you opt for a battery-powered or water-powered system, the peace of mind and protection they offer are invaluable. Don't wait for the next power outage or heavy rainfall to recognize their importance; act now and ensure your basement remains dry and safe year-round.

Maintaining your home's exterior is crucial for its overall health and longevity. One often overlooked, yet essential, aspect of this maintenance is proper downspout extensions. These unassuming components play a significant role in protecting your home from various issues that can arise due to improper water drainage. In this blog post, we will explore the benefits of installing and maintaining downspout extensions for your house.

Prevent Soil Erosion: When rainwater flows directly from your roof to the ground without proper drainage, it can erode the soil around your home's foundation. This erosion weakens the foundation and can lead to costly structural damage over time. Downspout extensions direct water away from your foundation, preventing soil erosion and maintaining the stability of your home.

Foundation Protection: Excess moisture around the foundation can cause cracks, leaks, and even structural shifts. Downspout extensions help keep water away from the foundation, reducing the risk of water-related damage and preserving the integrity of your home's structure.

Basement Flooding Prevention: Improperly directed rainwater can seep into your basement, leading to dampness, mold growth, and even flooding. By channeling rainwater away from your home's perimeter, downspout extensions help safeguard your basement from water-related issues.

Landscape Preservation: Without proper downspout extensions, rainwater can accumulate near your home, resulting in soggy patches of lawn, damaged flower beds, and even soil compaction. By ensuring water is directed away from these areas, you can maintain a healthier and more attractive landscape.

Prevent Pest Infestations: Stagnant water near your home can attract pests like mosquitoes, ants, and other insects. By preventing water from pooling around your house, downspout extensions play a role in reducing the likelihood of pest infestations.

Prevent Exterior Damage: Excessive water runoff can damage your home's exterior surfaces, including siding, paint, and brickwork. Downspout extensions prevent this damage by guiding water away from these vulnerable areas.

Preserve Walkways and Driveways: Constant water runoff onto walkways and driveways can lead to cracks, shifting, and deterioration. Downspout extensions direct water away from these surfaces, extending their lifespan and reducing maintenance costs.

Long-Term Cost Savings: Investing in downspout extensions is a relatively low-cost solution compared to the potential expenses of repairing foundation damage, basement flooding, or extensive landscape restoration. By preventing these issues, you can save significant amounts of money over the long term.

Proper downspout extensions are a small, yet crucial investment in the overall health and longevity of your home. By preventing soil erosion, foundation damage, basement flooding, and various other issues, these unassuming components play a vital role in protecting your investment and ensuring a comfortable living environment for years to come. Don't underestimate the power of effective water drainage – consider installing and maintaining downspout extensions for a healthier, more resilient home.

Complete Basement Waterproofing
2023-07-17T12:41:17.05Z
Nova Basement Systems

To help correct the water leaking in from the cove joint, NOVA installed a full perimeter WaterGuard system. This specialized piping system is design specifically to catch water at the cove joint. NOVA had to break out the floor along the perimeter using a jack hammer, remove the floor, and install the system. Once installed, NOVA backfilled with stone and concreted the floor back in place. In order to service the system in the future NOVA added clean out ports.

To flash the water from the walls and into the WaterGuard System, NOVA installed a full perimter EmeShield System. This mechanically fastened solution allows for proper flashing to the WaterGuard while bringing out the brightness and beauty of the basement.

Once the water was controlled, NOVA installed the UltraSump Sump Pump Solution. Not only would this system handle the volume of water for the basement, but it was equipped with a back-up solution. So if the primary were ever to fail, there is a secondary pump designed to take over. The secondary pump will alarm if it is activated. This will notify the homeowner that there is an issue with the primary pump. In addition, the secondary pump operates using a battery if the homeowner were ever to lose power (like in a thunderstorm). This solution was especially important knowing that the homeowner was planning to finish the basement in the future.

Lastly, NOVA discharged the UltraSump to the outside to a drywell system. This is per code in the city of Hobart. This discharge was equipped with an IceGuard to protect the pump in the winter should the discharge line ever to freeze.

After completion of the project, the homeowner could rest assured that they were better protected from water issues in the basement. And after their experience, they wrote a positive Google review:

"They waterproofed our basement and did the work in four days. They were on time every day and very professional. We are really happy with the work they did and will absolutely use them in the future. Eugene and his team were great to work with and went out of their way to lock doors before they left every day. We had unexpected snow that caused them to close on one of the days they were scheduled to work at our house, and they left me with a clean basement and hooked up my washer and dryer for the weekend! This mom was so thankful. Highly recommend them!"

Shortly after purchasing this home, the homeowner experienced water problems throughout the basement. To complicate matters further, the homeowner had aspirations of finishing the basement. Upon inspection of the home, there was clear evidence of water leaking through the cove joint and through the foundation block wall. Our goal was to waterproof the basement in the areas that were leaking. And by doing so, the homeowner could begin to focus on finishing the basement.

Nova Basement Systems

The best solution for this homeowner was to install a super sump system in the northwest corner of the home, running a drain tile through the center of a crawlspace to collect water and tie to the sump. In the Southwest corner we would install a three foot concrete under footer filling the void left from the construction of the house. After the Drain Tile is installed, we would then lay drainage matting over the dirt floor to flash water to the center of the crawlspace and downhill to the sump pump, and finally install CleanSpace encapsulation liner on all foundation walls as well as the floor taping and caulking all joints and seams.

This Granger, Indiana customer called us because their crawlspace would get standing water.

Nova Basement Systems

The best solution for this Francesville homeowner was to install a perimeter of Drain Tile that would empty into a sump pump that could handle the amount of water that would enter the crawlspace. Phase 2 would then be to install CleanSpace Encapsulation and an AprilAire Dehumidifier to control the moisture and humidity levels.

This customer plans to call us when they are ready for the next phase to create an environment that is healthy for their home.

Marcellus, Michigan Wall Anchor
2021-03-25T17:17:27.05Z
Nova Basement Systems

The best solution for this Marcellus, Michigan homeowner was to install 5 Earth Wall Anchors. Based on the size of the wall and also based on the size of the bow, we chose to do a larger plate to cover more of the surface area of the wall. This was all installed easily in one day. From there he had the ability to torque the anchors to try to get the wall back to it's original position.

That being said, when he was finished torqueing the anchor rods, our Service Technician went out to do a final inspection. He cut the rods of the anchors and he sealed any cracking along that wall with urethane.

With Earth Wall Anchors comes a life-time transferable warranty. The homeowner has been happy ever since, check out his testimonial!

This customer called us because he has a second home in Marcellus, Michigan that has a bowed foundation cinderblock wall. Upon initial inspection, we noticed the bowing wall had large trees and tree roots, along with a hill that ran along it, so rebuilding was not a viable option.

From there we looked at possible solutions such as Fortress Carbon Fiber Straps, PowerBraces, and Earth Wall Anchors. Upon discussion, this homeowner's goal was to try to get as much of the wall back to it's original state.

After a free evaluation we were able to show this homeowner that waterproofing doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg. She felt educated and understood why our approach to waterproofing is from the interior as opposed to the exterior. She was confident with our solution and was finally ready to fix this lingering problem once and for all.

First, we installed a SuperSump sump pump into her floor. This sump comes with a three year manufacturers warranty from the date of installation. It also comes with an air tight sump lid to keep odors and additional moisture from entering your living space, and from any objects that may get into the sump basin.

Finally we installed a full WaterGuard perimeter solution to capture and drain water from the exterior walls in her basement. This system then pushes water through a track to the sump pump, and the water then gets ejected through an Underground Downspout. The great news is that WaterGuard is accessible to the customer and can be cleaned and flushed when needed. Some exterior systems are unable to be cleaned unless you dig up the Earth around the home, which can be very costly.

If this story sounds all to familiar, give Nova a call. We have been serving Northwest Indiana nad Southwest Michigan for over 40 years, and have over 500 customer testimonials!! Give us a call today for your free estimate.

This basement in Merrillville, Indiana was getting seepage at the cove joint, the area where the floor and wall come together. She had been experiencing this problem for years and had just assumed a project like this would be to costly. She spoke with a neighbor that had a perimeter system installed by us, and they urged her to call Nova Basement Systems out to take a look at her concerns.

Gutters vs Underground Downspouts

Nothing is worse than gutters, am I right? Every time you mow you have to go pull them off, throw them to the side, mow, go back and attach them again. Or a nice strong wind will take your gutter right off, and into the neighbors yard with the scary dog. They also make a great ankle breaker when you run outside at night. Gutters are the worst. They are unattractive too.

Underground downspouts are an attractive and effective way to shed water away from your home. Sometimes your damp basement can be caused by just a crummy gutter problem. I know what you are thinking "I am not going to let some man come tear up my beautiful lawn." I think I can ease your fears with some pictures of work our crews have done.

It was clear that a Waterguard System, and our SuperSump would be the right fix for this property. We also installed some underground downspouts, and a trench drain, that wash water further away from the property. If any water were to enter again, it would be directed to the sump, and out of the property.

Water became an issue in a church rectory that had no sump pump. They called us in to figure out the best solution.

Our crew decided the best approach was to fill the crack with an epoxy injection. They took further measures to assure the wall would no longer shift, by "stitching" horizontal fortress stabilizers. The homeowner has a water free basement now, and can enjoy his space.

Standing water was proving to be a big problem anytime it would rain, for this beautiful Valparaiso, Indiana home. Water would rush in through a vertical crack in the homeowners poured basement wall.

Nova Earns 2016 Angie's List Award

Nova Basement Systems
For the second year in a row, Nova Basement Systems earned the Angie's List Super Service Award!!

Nova Basement Systems Earns Esteemed 2016 Angie’s List Super Service Award

Award reflects company’s consistently high level of customer service

Nova Basement Systems has earned the home service industry’s coveted Angie’s List Super Service Award, reflecting an exemplary year of customer service to members of the local services marketplace and consumer review site in 2016.

This achievement is particularly significant as Angie’s List experienced unprecedented member growth in 2016. More than 1.6 million consumers, many of whom were eager to quickly hire highly qualified service pros, joined Angie’s List after the company added a new, free membership tier.

“Companies that can meet higher demands without missing a beat in their exemplary performance standards truly do stand apart from their peers,” said Angie’s List Founder Angie Hicks. “Only a fraction of the basement/crawlspace waterproofing companies in Northwest Indiana/ Southwest Michigan were able to do it.”

Angie’s List Super Service Award 2016 winners have met strict eligibility requirements, which include an “A” rating in overall grade, recent grade, and review period grade. The SSA winners must also be in good standing with Angie’s List, pass a background check and abide by Angie’s List operational guidelines.

“We are very proud to receive this award again. It just speaks to the amazing people that we have in our Nova family!”- Terresa Draves, Vice President Nova Basement Systems

Service company ratings are updated daily on Angie’s List as new, verified consumer reviews are submitted. Companies are graded on an A through F scale in areas ranging from price to professionalism to punctuality.

For more than 21 years, Angie’s List restricted access to its verified reviews to consumers who paid membership fees. When the company removed that barrier, some companies worried that the new, non-paying members would not be as engaged as members of the past. Experience has shown, however, that these newly added members are just as engaged – across all age groups – as prior members. Also, because the company continues to adhere to its review verification process, there has been no degradation of review quality.

“The biggest change at Angie’s List is that we are connecting even more consumers to high quality service professionals,” Hicks said. “And that’s good for everyone.”

###

Angie's List helps facilitate happy transactions between more than 4.5 million consumers nationwide and its collection of highly rated service providers in more than 720 categories of service, ranging from home improvement to health care. Built on a foundation of more than 10 million verified reviews of local service, Angie's List connects consumers directly to its online marketplace of services from member-reviewed providers, and offers unique tools and support designed to improve the local service experience for both consumers and service professionals.

Reduce Your Home's Radon Risk During National Radon Action Month
2016-01-21T00:00:00.05Z
Nova Basement Systems
January is the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's designated National Radon Action Month - discover how radon testing and mitigation can benefit your home and prevent deadly lung cancer.

Every year in the United States, more than 21,000 lives are taken by radon-induced lung cancer – a disease that is completely avoidable with the right precautions. Radon is a colorless, odorless, radioactive gas that can be found in any property across the country. No matter where you live in Indiana and Michigan, it’s crucial to find out if radon is a problem in your home. If testing shows a high radon level, steps should be taken to fix the problem to protect yourself and your family.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), has named January as National Radon Action Month, urging homeowners to take action now and test for radon. Testing is easy and inexpensive and can help prevent unnecessary exposure to the harmful gas.

National Radon Action Month is just one part of the EPA’s larger plan to eliminate radon concerns in Indiana and Michigan and all across the country. The National Radon Action Plan, released late last year, is a collaboration among several organizations dedicated to reducing radon risk in 5 million homes and saving 3,200 lives annually by 2020.

Testing for radon and if necessary, reducing high radon levels with radon mitigation should be your top priority during National Radon Action Month, but the EPA also suggests other ways to get involved. You can help spread the word about radon to your friends and neighbors. If you’re planning on selling your home and haven't had the radon level tested, you should take steps to fix the problem now to protect your family and pass on the health benefits to the next homeowner.

Nova Basement Systems is proud to support National Radon Action Month by providing homeowners in Greater South Bend with effective radon mitigation. Contact us today to schedule a radon test or request a quote to have a new mitigation system installed or to have your current system inspected!

For more information on radon and radon testing, you can see the EPA's Citizen's Guide to Radon.

Nova Basement Systems is now a part of the National Radon Defense dealer network, dedicated to eradicating harmful radon from our customers' homes!

Nova Basement Systems has long been a top provider of basement waterproofing and foundation and crawl space repair services. We are proud to announce that we have joined National Radon Defense, a network of dealers committed to saving homeowners from the dangerous effects of radon gas. As a fully trained and certified dealer, we are more than capable of testing your home for radon and, if necessary, performing mitigation techniques to remove it.

Radon gas is completely undetectable to the naked eye - which is part of the reason it can be so dangerous. When found in high amounts, radon also has adverse health effects. It is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the country. This gas can be found anywhere in varying amounts, and is brought into your home through leaks and ventilation. Radon mitigation consists of forcing radon gas back outside and preventing it from re-entering.

If you're concerned about radon levels in your Indiana home, have a professional Nova Basement Systems technician perform a test and see where your home stands. We'll help get your radon back to a safe level!

The Novas own a condo in Puerto Adventuras, Mexico. This small town is located about sixty miles south of Cancun in the Mexican Carribean / Yucatan Penninsula. The Novas have donated thier time in helping a local school and the town with holiday events and donations to the library. Recently, they have become involved in an innovative program which utilizes horse-back riding as a form of therapy. There are many of these new programs (Reins of Life, for example) which treat clients from four to twenty years of age who suffer from difficulties such as Cerebral Palsy, Autism, or even different levels of paralysis. The goal is to train each rider to become as skilled on horseback as possible, which helps with balance, a major issue for most of these clients. In addition, the therapists create games to improve motor and sensory skills along with socialization. Volunteers, such as the Novas, lead the horses and help balance and support the riders.

Aside from the active learning the therapists impart, there is a powerful passive benefit that cannot be quantified. The connection formed over time between the clients and horses is one that any pet lover will understand. The motion and warmth of the animals has a noted affect. Firsthand, the Novas have seen astonishing improvements in balance, healing, and social skills.

The stable in Mexico is located in a remote area south of the town of Playa del Carmen. There is no electricity, and they are deep in the jungle, dealing with temperatures in excess of 100 degrees, no breeze to speak of, high humidity, mosquitoes, flies, and even bats. But Jim and Kathy Nova will tell you that the joy on the faces of those clients makes it all worthwhile. Says Jim, "You walk away from a session and realize you really don't have any real problems of your own."

Therapeutic horseback riding is a growing way people in many communities are helping those with disabilities and improving their connections with society. Identify and Conquer the Causes of Your Wet Basement
2011-03-25T00:00:00.05Z
Donna Kshir
If you have a damp, wet basement, you're not alone. According to studies conducted by The American Society of Home Inspectors, 60 percent of all homes in the United States have issues with wet basements.

A wet basement in Indiana or Michigan can be quite a nuisance for any homeowner. If your basement currently includes a finished living space, the least amount of moisture can and will ruin drywall, framing and carpeting. Regardless if you have a finished basement, a crawl space or if you strictly use your basement for storage purposes, the slightest case of condensation can cause hardwood flooring to buckle on the above level. Condensation can also cause harmful molds; this can be a risk to children and adults with breathing difficulties and asthma. It can also cause skin irritation.

If your basement currently suffers from a dampness or wetness, you're not alone. According to studies performed by The American Society of Home Inspectors, 60 percent of homes in the United States have moisture problems in their basements. Most often, the wetness occurs from rainfall and snow melt.

Once water accumulates around the foundation of your home, the water slowly works its way into your foundation through small holes, cracks, joints, and the holes in porous materials. The key is to try to determine whether condensation, runoff, or subsurface seepage is the problem and begin taking the proper precautions.

Condensation

This is also called sweating by waterproofing experts. Condensation frequently appears as water droplets, puddles, small and large wet spots on the walls and floors of your basement.
Condensation occurs when moist, warm air hits the cool walls and flooring of your foundation, it can also occur from un-insulated water pipes. This process tends to dampen carpets and rugs, rust appliances, and make the basement feel clammy to the touch.

Condensation can also cause wood to rot and walls, hardwood floors and framing to buckle. It can also encourage an insect infestation.

Runoff

Large amounts of rainfall or melted snow that isn't properly routed away from the foundation of your home, is actually the biggest and most common cause of moisture in a basement and crawl space.

Runoff tends to puddle near the base of the foundation. With very little pressure, the water is then forced through small holes, cracks or gaps in the foundation walls and footing.
There are preventative measures home owners can take to help reduce the risk of a wet basement.

Rain Gutters

Rain gutters are designed to redirect runoff away from the foundation of your home and prevent runoff seepage. Improperly maintaining your homes rain gutter system may prove to be one of the worst mistakes, ever.

Leaves and other debris can and will make rain gutters run over and spill out, causing puddles, small and large, to form around the foundation. Ultimately, such activity causes damp and wet basement.

Repair Leaks

If the ceilings or walls in your home currently have water stains there could be a leak from a water pipe, bathtub, corner shower or toilet. If any of these are the cause, hire a plumber to evaluate the situation and repair the leaks.

Landscaping

It's always a good idea for homeowners to slope the ground in an angle away from the foundation of your home. A small slope will allow water to freely redirect itself away from your foundation, preventing water from entering your basement.

The source of your problem could be as simple as a water leak, runoff or high humidity. Over time, these can lead to mildew, mold or other biological growth. Depending on the severity, these conditions can lead to wood rot, structural damage to your home and a variety of health concerns.

Water can easily seep into your foundation from an outside source; a cracked or broken pipe, a leaky outside spigot, a small hole or crack in the foundation, or small cracks and gaps around the doors and windows of your home.

There may not be any visual signs of a leak, but moisture evaporates, and this, too, can easily increase indoor humidity. Another very common source is condensation that forms on cold concrete floors and walls. Some normal activities such as showering, cooking and drying clothing can cause high indoor humidity, and can be the main source of your problem.

Solution

If you have questions or concerns, contact a waterproofing expert that can evaluate the situation, give you an expert opinion and tell you what best suits your specific needs.
In fact, contact Nova Basement Systems today for a free estimate for basement waterproofing in Indiana. Snow and ice can cause your foundations wall to crack or bow...

During the winter months in Northwest Indiana and Southwest Michigan, we get large amounts of lake effect snow from Lake Michigan. It can snow as much as 36" in one weekend. Then we usually get a little warm up where some of the snow will melt. This goes on from October through as late as April. These freezes and thaws can reap havoc on your foundations. Resulting in the need for foundation repair in Michigan and Indiana.

The water fills up your gutters which freeze and icicles form. In some parts of Northwest Indiana and Southwest Michigan, the icicles get so dangerous, that people try multiple ways to rid them, such as installing gutter heaters. These gutter heaters may keep icicles from forming, but the water is still dumping next to your foundation.

After some reevaluations, the Nova team produced the perfect system for reusing some materials.

Local concrete yards are now the recipients of the excess concrete after a concrete basement floor has been jack hammered. Additionally, Nova now donates all the batten insulation to Habitat for Humanity after it has been torn from crawl spaces before encapsulation.

Residually, Nova is retaining thousands of dollars that otherwise would have been put toward dumpster costs. Now the company utilizes a Pay-As-You-Throw system in which they only have to pay when the dumpster requires emptying.

Contact Nova Basement Systems today for more information about their recycling program in addition to crawl space repair in Michigan and Indiana.
